While I seek your vote in October for now I seek your opinion.
I want to hear from you, what your concerns are, what the city does well and what we can do better.

I’m Michael Samlalsingh, and I’m proud to announce my candidacy for City Councilor in Ward 1, Pickering.
My family and I have called Pickering home for 39 years, witnessing firsthand the many changes shaping our community. Born in Montreal and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, I’m a graduate of Pickering High School and have raised my family here. I currently own and operate a local accounting firm serving businesses and residents in the area.
Prior to this, I gained over 20 years of senior financial leadership experience as Director of Finance with major financial institutions, managing large operating and capital budgets and leading finance teams. As a Chartered Professional Accountant with an MBA, I bring strong financial expertise and practical skills to help guide Pickering through this period of unprecedented growth.
Looking ahead, I am committed to ensuring that growth in Pickering is managed responsibly and effectively.
My key priorities include enhancing community safety, expanding youth services, and improving city services such as snow removal by increasing efficiency and leveraging growth in the tax base to provide better service for residents.
Most importantly, I want to hear from you. Your concerns, ideas, and insights into what’s working well and what can be better are vital to shaping the future of Ward 1. I encourage everyone to stay informed and participate in this important election. This campaign is about you, the residents of Ward 1 and making sure your interests and tax dollars are represented effectively.
